SHOW & SALE – SATURDAY 20^th FEBRUARY 2010

A packed ringside witnessed the ‘best yet’ of Show Potential cattle at Ruthin last Saturday with quality oozing in every pen. Even the trecherous road conditions did not defer anyone from attending this event and potential customers came from all over the country.

The Supreme Champion was awarded by judge Gilbert Brook to a 6mnth old Limousin Heifer sired by son of ‘Requin’ from D Brute of Brecon which was later sold for £4,100 to Emily Jones of Lampeter, with the Reserve Champion awarded to the 9mnth old Limousin Steer from JM & AM Lewis, Cwrt y Cadno, Carmarthen which sold for £2,900 to G R Fountaine, Beechhampton, Milton Keynes.

The Reserve Champion Heifer was awarded to a 7mnth old British Blue cross from T Jones, Bodychain uchaf, Caernarfon which was purchased by S E Sellers, Kilburn, Derby for £2,800.

The Reserve Champion Steer was awarded to a 9mnth old British Blue cross from DB, H & ID Owen, Trefor, Holyhead which sold for £2,000 to Davies Bros, Trefenter, Aberystwyth.

The ‘Genus’ Champion was a Limousin Steer from TM & EE Williams, Nant y Geifr, Llanidloes which sold to D Owen, Aberdyfi, Gwynedd for £1,250 and the ‘Genus’ Reserve Champion was a British Blue cross Heifer from G & E Jones a’i gwmni, Llantrisant, Holyhead which sold for £900 to W P Smith, Cheddleton, Leek.

The Champion unhaltered was a Limousin Steer from D J Lloyd & Co, Trefeglwys, Caersws which sold for £1,300 to A Lewis, Brecon, Powys and the Reserve Champion unhaltered was awarded to A & J Powell, Guilsfield, Welshpool which sold for £950 to G Jones, Halkyn, Holywell.

The top price of the day of £4,600 was paid by Emily Jones of Lampeter for a Limousin Steer from Bowen & Bowen, Brooks, Welshpool.
