North Wales Potential Report

The Ruthin North Wales Potential sale was once again blessed with an abundance of quality and is always amongst the most popular sale in the show cattle calendar having had a large number of national show winners through the sale.
The difficult task of judging the cattle was this year given to Blair Duffton of Aberdeenshire and Cai Edwards of Corwen.
As expected, a large crowd gathered for the show and sale in what a glorious day of sunshine with buyers from Northern Ireland to Scotland to Lincoln to Devon.
Overall Supreme Champion was awarded to the 4-month-old (lot 11) heifer by D & E Davies, Dolydd Ddwr, Carmarthenshire named ‘Baby Shark’. The heifer went on to sell for £6,000 to JCB Commercial of Northern Ireland. A video showing the moment the Champion was chosen can be found on our website.

Reserve Champion and Champion Steer was awarded to lot 32 by J M & A M Lewis, Pentwyn, a regular supporter of the sale and a regular amongst the prizes. His steer was sold for £5,100 and sold to Donal Morrison of Sutherland Scotland.
Reserve Champion steer was awarded to D H & H & I D Owen, Rhyd y Defaid, a 9 month Limousin steer selling for £2,000 to J M & S M Rowlands, Dolwen Farm.
Having won the future showman class, Dion Hughes of Corwen and their 8 month old Limousin x heifer was then awarded the Reserve Champion heifer and going on to sell for £2,700 purchased by R Whitfield of St Helens.
Receiving one of the highest prices of the day was an 8 month old British Blue x steer by D J Lloyd & Co, Cefn Barrach selling for £4,500 to S E Sellers of Lincoln.
